Booking System
A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated by e-mail in agreed priority order in the autumn. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the list, the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years the cycle begins again.

Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to September inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations.

These extra bookings are confirmed on the first day of the month before the month of the booking and an extra charge of £50 is made for each week taken.

The boat "year" for bookings is April-March

Priority for school holidays

(Correct 2015) One owner has a special share which give priority for booking in the school holidays. A maximum of 2 owners can do this.

(Another owner has a special share giving priority in booking 3 consecutive weeks in either March/April, or September/October.)

These owners pay a higher proportion of the costs than ordinary shares.

General comments about the boat
Kingsley is a Hexagon built semi-trad style boat, with the gas bottle storage in a locker/seating area on the left-hand side of the rear deck.

Below the rear deck is a well-serviced 4 cylinder Nanni Diesel engine, with the calorifier and battery banks.

Dropping down the steps which are on the right-hand side of the boat, you pass the rear toilet with wash basin. To the right of the toilet is a cupboard with hanging space and access to the top-up tank for the boiler.  Adjacent to this on your left is the main bedroom with a double bed, which can be extended to king-size and has drawer storage underneath. There is also a satellite TV and DVD player, and a radiator. The controls to the Alde boiler are above the bed.

Next is the main toilet/bathroom, which has a wash basin, shower, and  a heated towel rail.

This is followed by another cupboard with hanging space, below which is the freezer.

Moving forwards we have the kitchen with the oven below a work surface, followed by the stainless steel sink unit. Next to the sink is the hob, surrounded by further work surfaces, underneath which is the fridge. There are cupboards beneath the work surfaces, as well as on the wall facing the sink, together with wall cupboards and a microwave. The kitchen is well equipped with a full range of saucepans, utensils, cutlery crockery and basic cleaning materials.

This brings you to the dinette area, with a glazed opening side hatch in the right-hand wall. There is an L-shaped dinette on the left, which sits six when using the two collapsible chairs that are kept on board. This also pulls out to make up into a double bed and has locker space under the seating, containing the relevant duvets and pillows.

Immediately after the dining area, there is the solid fuel stove to the left, and a further radiator on the right hand wall.

We then come to the saloon area, with two leather swivel chairs, and a satellite TV and DVD player. It is possible to fit two further berths in this area, but owners have to bring their own mattresses.

Finally we come to glazed folding doors which open on to the bow seating area, with storage lockers under. There are removable cushions for both the bow and stern seating which are kept on the boat.

General Comments by vendor

If required an incoming owner can elect to have the share changed to one where each year going forward a school holiday priority can be secured. Please contact the vendor if this option appeals to you.

Kingsley is self-managed by a group of friendly and enthusiastic owners. We keep in touch mainly by e-mail, where any problems and suggestions may be raised. Each year there is an AGM when matters are discussed in more detail.

Regular maintenance and servicing is covered by a contract with the marina, who also carry out the winter works. Most owners, however, deal with minor repairs themselves.

The boat underwent a full back to metal repaint in new colours in April 2015 and the new colours are shown in the exterior shots above.

Before changeover day, owners must ensure that the toilets are pumped out, and that fuel, water and gas are replenished ready for the next owners. All this can be done in the marina, whose staff are ready to assist if required. We have an arrangement with a local company for an internal valet on each changeover day.

In the marina, we have our own berth, with individual access to shore electricity, covered by a pre-paid card. In less congenial weather, therefore, it is possible to stay in the marina, using the boat as a base.

The marina has excellent facilities, including showers, laundry and free Wi-Fi.

Audlem is centrally situated, providing access to different areas such as North Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire.

Kingsley is a comfortable, modern boat fitted with light wood panelling and kitchen cupboards and has modern wall lights, fitted with LED bulbs for economy. The head room is particularly good, and there is no “ducking”, even in the shower!

Mains 240V electricity is available from an inverter using battery power or from a shore supply, if connected. 12V d.c. cigar lighter points powered from the domestic batteries are fitted at various locations.

Domestic hot water is heated by the engine, gas boiler or shore electricity. Central heating is from the gas boiler or shore electricity. The gas bottle and a spare are located in a stern locker.

In fine weather it is very pleasant to make use of the comfortable sitting area in the bow, where there is a removable table.
