General comments about the boat |
Starting at the rear
is the cruiser stern with hinged engine access on damper struts
where all daily checks are performed.
Central double doors and sliding hatch leads down steps to the
saloon; TV/DVD and radio/CD cupboard to port and the starboard
cupboard gives access to mains double output battery charger. The
saloon includes a settee which easily converts to a double bed, a
double drop-leaf table with stowage for four folding dining chairs
and a wheeled box in which is stored the "Henry" vacuum cleaner and
attachments.
The multi fuel stove is on the
starboard side before the U-shaped galley which is equipped with
built-in fridge (with freezer compartment), Vanette oven and
separate grill, four burner hob and sink + drainer. Ample cupboard
and drawer space is complemented by two glass fronted overhead
cupboards. Opposite the galley is a side hatch with plastic screen.
Next is the bathroom comprising tiled bath with shower and screen,
pump-out toilet and vanity unit with inbuilt hand basin and
illuminated mirror. The extractor fan is remotely switched.
Lastly is the fwd bedroom with extendable fixed double bed,
wardrobe, under bed drawers and a concealed en-suite vanity unit.
Central double doors lead via an internal step to the bow area where
2 gas bottles are separately stowed and the 200gallon freshwater
tank fwd of the well. Below deck (with internal access) is storage
for spare chandlery, anchor chain + warp and a very useful reserve
portaloo.

If a potential purchaser
requires a "School holiday" share this could well be possible for
bookings from 2018 and you are invited to contact me.
Orchid was commissioned by the then
owners of Orchid 2 with Ownerships. Upon the demise of Ownerships
Orchid became a self-managed syndicate.
We have a chairman, secretary, bookings secretary and treasurer who
is the responsible person for C & RT purposes.
Two owners have more than one
share. All sharers take an active part in the running of Orchid,
contributing in the ways they are most suited for. We have two
meetings a year to tie in with boat handover and held near to our
current marina. It usually includes lunch (to encourage attendance!)
and are usually lively and informative. Attendance is not
obligatory.
Orchid is an ideal boat for couples though she can accommodate four
adults with ease. Conversely she is easy to venture out
singlehandedly. The reverse open layout is ideal for summer cruising
whilst the gas central heating and stove (wood or coal) is cosy in
winter.
Our current mooring on the South Oxford Canal is perfectly placed for The
Grand Circle or more local excursions. Cropredy is only a couple of
days from the Thames so making the Royal River a possible holiday
venue when only out for a week. We had a super 3 weeks on the River Thames
in April.
The BMC1800 engine was replaced by a reconditioned one in 2012 and
the hull had a full repaint professionally carried out in 2014.
A very friendly group of owners who
self manage the boat and have two yearly meetings to discuss any
matters (lunch included ). Boat is maintained by our own engineer on
a regular basis. Had new sofa bed and carpet tiles beginning of
2016.
A Gold C & RT licence is complemented by Gold membership of RCR.
