Booking System |
A booking chart for the following
calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order before the
owners’ annual meeting, where the bookings for the next year are
confirmed. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up
a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the
list, the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years
the cycle begins again.
Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight)
in the ‘high season’ (April to October inclusive), and one week
in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks
are firmly booked before the year begins.
Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen
weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original
chart, so having last choice originally does have its
compensations. These extra bookings are confirmed on the first
day of the month before the month of the booking.
|
Priority for school holidays |
If required, a share can be designated as a
'Special' share, which gives the owner priority on school holiday weeks, in
exchange for a small increase in the contribution to the boat syndicate
fund.
Special share owners are sent the booking chart before any other owners and
can choose school holiday weeks.

General Comments by vendor

Pendeford is a well
maintained semi- trad narrow boat. The boat is operated
privately by its share owners, who are a friendly group and
share the tasks involved to provide very enjoyable and
economical holidays for all.
Pendeford is professionally maintained both annually for the
main ‘winter service’ and at regular nominated times during
the cruising season. (Engine services are approx. every 6
weeks and noted on the annual booking chart.)
In April 2013 we moved the boat to Wigrams Turn Marina and
are now in the fourth year of enjoying the multitude of
cruising routes this has opened up.
At the 2011 AGM it was decided to recondition the engine
which was undertaken in 2012. At the same time an Axiom high
performance propeller was fitted. This has significantly
improved the boat handling performance as well as an
estimated 10 20% improvement fuel efficiency. The stopping
distance has also improved. (Handy when you meet a boat
coming the other way under a bridge!).
During the 2012 winter maintenance the bathroom was refitted
with a full size shower (removing the bath) and a new wash
hand basin. Additional shelves were also fitted for towel
storage etc.
Additionally new curtains were made and fitted.
During 2013 new flooring has been laid throughout including
hard surface flooring in both the kitchen and shower room,
two new chair beds have been purchased and the dinette
seating has been reupholstered in fabric to complement the
curtains.
The bow cushions have also had new filling.
The TV system has been replaced with a 22inch TV/DVD with
built in Freeview receiver. Speakers for radio and CD player have been fitted in the
kitchen and bedroom.
Finally Pendeford underwent a complete re-paint in early
2014, updating the colours and livery and relocating the
name from the bow to the back side panels and creating a
unique piece of art work which is a Pendeford ‘dovecote’
with the name Pendeford written above.
The syndicate has a legal 'Pendeford Members Syndicate
Agreement'.
The owners are committed to continually improving Pendeford
and keeping her up to date.
