General comments about the boat |
The engine room at the rear is fitted
with a 4 cylinder Nanni diesel which is original and is still in good
working condition and is very economical.
The rear cabin contains a double bed which folds to allow access into
the engine room. There is also a three drawer cabinet and a wardrobe
that also contains the hot water tank feed from the engine and heats the
toilet area next door.
The toilet area is fitted with a wash basin, flushing toilet and
overhead shower system. There is a separate pump-out system for the
shower and a very large effluent tank for pumping out waste.
The centre of the boat has two fold back side hatches that allows fresh
air in with a stepped cupboard allowing side exit as required.
The kitchen is fitted with a cooker, grill and 4 burner hob. An insert
stainless steel sink fitted with a cold water filter system, a
regulation fridge is also fitted beneath the worktop.
The dining area has a table hinged to the wall to accommodate the diners
and this will drop down to make another double bed.
The lounge is light and spacious with a large full width 'L' shaped
settee which converts into a double bed. A Moroso stove sits at the
front which heats the area as required and also heats the two radiators
towards the back end of the boat.
The front of the boat contains two seating areas with storage underneath
and easy access to the cold water tank. |

General Comments by vendor
|
Tess is a well maintained traditional narrow boat and we are
seeking boaters who share our aim to keep Tess to a high
standard to join our small friendly group. With only six
members we can offer reasonable flexibility boating and
change-over points if desired, by agreement with each other.
When the boat is handed over from one member to the next it
needs to be suitably cleaned and tidied and left in good
condition ready to cruise again.
(Comments re
bookings and boat location)
The booking system is
usually organised by one person at the beginning of the
year. We sometimes have a member's meeting at the end of the
season when details of what we want to do with Tess in the
next year is discussed and agreed. We usually work on a
maximum of two weeks at any one time, but this can vary if
it does not cause a problem.
The four week system is normally all that the members want.
Occasionally one of them may want another one or two weeks
(say out of season) and then we have asked for £10 a day to
be paid into the funds.
If two members want the same two weeks they are asked to
agree amongst themselves as to how they would like to
arrange things. Generally this has worked out very well.
The boat has been moored at Calcutt for many years but the
members quite often agree amongst themselves to hand over
somewhere different at the end of their holiday and so they
arrange the transport to and from Calcutt accordingly.
