Booking System |
A
booking chart for the following year is circulated during the
previous summer, so that it is completed prior to the owners'
annual autumn meting, where it is confirmed. Initially, each
owner may book 3 weeks (2 weeks high season, 1 week low season)
and, thereafter, the chart is re-circulated for owners to book a
4th week if wished. There is a rota system which ensures that
everyone moves up the list each year (unless you are currently
top of the list, in which case you then move to the bottom for
the following year). This ensures a fair choice of holiday dates
for all. The system is very democratic and we've found that it
works well for everyone.
With only 11 owners, there is enough flexibility in the system
for maintenance not to affect anyone's weeks. The fourth week is
booked in reverse order of priority.
|
Priority for school holidays |
A maximum of 2 "Special" shares has priority
booking for school holiday weeks and these owners pay a higher proportion of
the costs than "Ordinary" syndicate members, thus reducing the running costs
for the other 10 shareholders. At
present, only one special share is allocated

General comments about the boat |
From the spacious stern (plenty of space for
al-fresco dining), steps lead down to the saloon with 2 armchairs
which convert to single beds, solid fuel stove, full height wardrobe
with drawers under, corner storage unit, 1800w inverter, flat screen
TV/DVD player and built in radio.
The dining area contains banquette-type seating with storage under,
which converts to a double bed, plus removable dining table which
folds flat for easy storage.
The well equipped galley has plenty of storage space, gas oven and
hob, built in microwave, fridge
and stainless steel sink/drainer.
Opposite the sink is a large side hatch with double doors and
lifting roof hatch. The doors can be opened in fine weather to
"bring the outside in" or fitted with the on-board Perspex panel to
allow extra light into the galley area.
Next is the the bathroom with triangular
bath with shower, hand basin, loo and storage cupboards. There is
plenty of room to hang wet gear over the bath to dry in less that
perfect boating weather.
Forward of the bathroom is a privacy door, followed by a separate
loo with hand basin, then the main bedroom with a fixed 4' bed which
is easily extendable to 5' with an extra mattress section. Under the
bed are 2 large storage drawers. There is also a spacious wardrobe
unit and cupboards above the bed head.
A step leads to the forward deck with a capacious water tank in the
bow and 4 lockers (storage for 2 gas bottles, solid fuel, hose, pins
etc). The lockers provide extra seating surfaces (cushions on
board).The curtains and carpet
tiles were renewed throughout in 2013. |

General Comments by vendor

Built by Milburn Boats on Graham
Reeves steelwork.
Chisbury is a smart, well
maintained, cruiser style narrow boat which underwent an
extensive, external re-paint at the end of 2011.
The cruiser-style layout means that there is a large area to
the stern of the boat for sociable gatherings. Also, unlike
many narrow boats, you do not come down from deck directly
into a bedroom area; not a good idea in wet weather!
The side hatch feature gives the boat a light and airy feel
in summer and, in addition to the solid fuel stove, the Alde
Comfort gas central central heating boiler and plentiful
radiators ensure that you are toasty warm during
out-of-season boating.
The engine was renewed in December 2014 with a Kioti
Canaline 1.8. Chisbury
is a well managed, well maintained boat. The owners have
regularly up-dated and replaced items needing attention.
This has included a complete repaint, a new engine, new
inverter and new carpet and curtains.
The owners meet annually in October/November in Birmingham
to decide on future location and matters needing attention.
