Booking System |
The booking system, run by the Bookings
Secretary, allows the owner of each share to book in advance up to 3
weeks use of the boat each year. 2 weeks in the "high season" (April
to September, inclusive) and 1 week in the "low season" (remaining
weeks). The change over day is Friday. Because of the closure of the
French leisure canals from November to March, it is not possible for
every owner to have a third week in which it is possible to cruise.
Over the evolution of a full rota, this problem evens itself out. At the beginning of July each year the Bookings Secretary will send out the Booking Chart to owners, in priority order, inviting them to choose their weeks for the following year. The Booking Priority System is designed such that over a 6 year period an owner would move from the bottom of the list to the top. Each year they would move up either one position or 3 positions (alternates each year) until they reach the top. The following year they would return to the bottom of the list. When the annual booking process has been completed owners can request additional weeks that may be vacant. |

Priority for school holidays |
There are two School Holiday Shares
permitted within the agreement. These shareholders book their
weeks, (2 high season and 1 low season), from within specified
school holiday periods before the normal shareholders. These
shareholders pay a premium on the normal running costs.
There is 2 special share currently (2018). |

Donjeux is a well
admired replica Dutch barge which has been up and down
the waterways of Burgundy and beyond since 2003.
We have taken her the
length of the Nivernais and the Canal de Bourgogne, the
Loing, the Canal de Briare and the Canal Lateral a la
Loire. She has been down to Roanne and up to Melun as
well as calling in at Dijon. By linking up with other
owners for a remote handover you could even get to
Paris. Donjeux has been up and down the Yonne, the Seine
and the Marne.
In September 2014
Donjeux was hauled out of the water for a complete
external re-paint job. This was carried out in the
green/cream/black livery that you see in the photos.
We have also built up a
reserve fund to cover capital costs which currently
stands at £9000. This is there in the event of engine
failure. The purchaser of the share will benefit from
the accrued contribution made by the vendor.
Whilst out of the water
the propeller shaft cutlass bearing was replaced. Also,
additional mooring bollards were welded amidships on the
port and starboard sides for increased flexibility when
mooring alongside or in a lock.

cruising areas have a look at this video on You Tube
