Booking System
A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated by e-mail in agreed priority order in the summer. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the list, the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years the cycle begins again.

Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to September inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance (January), the remaining seventeen weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations.

The boat "year" for bookings is January-December.
Priority for school holidays
One owner has a special share, which give priority for school holiday week bookings and no more are allowed per the contact.

This owner pays a 25% higher proportion of the costs than ordinary shares.

General comments about the boat
Marbury is a semi-trad style boat, with the gas bottle storage in a locker/seating area on the left-hand side of the rear deck, this contains all necessary mooring pins/chains, windlasses and mallet.

Below the rear deck is a well-serviced 4 cylinder Nanni Diesel engine, with the calorifier and battery banks.

Dropping down the steps which are on the left-hand side of the boat, you pass the rear toilet with wash basin. Next to toilet is the boiler, followed by a wardrobe with shelves above. Adjacent to this on your left is the main bedroom with a double bed, which can be extended to king-size and has drawer storage underneath. There is also a satellite TV and DVD player, and a radiator. The controls to the Alde boiler are above the bed.

This is followed by another cupboard with hanging space.

Next is the main toilet/bathroom, which has a wash basin, bath, shower, and a radiator. It also has an electric shaving point, there is ample storage for toiletries.

Moving forwards we have the U shaped kitchen. On the left is the eye level grill and oven, with microwave above and freezer below, followed by the stainless steel sink unit. Next to the sink on the left is a storage cupboard. The granite work surface runs from this and surrounds the hob set at an angle in the corner. Under the above are two large cupboards and three draws. The work surface continues with fridge beneath. Above the fridge and work surfaces there is a glass cabinet with access from both sides. In this, the china and glassware are stored. The kitchen is well equipped with a full range of saucepans, utensils, cutlery and crockery. Opposite the sink is a shelving unit with a glazed opening side hatch.
Before the dining room is a pull-out wardrobe with shelves and hanging space with glass protected shelve above.

The dinette is next on the left, it is
L-shaped and can seat six when using the two adjustable wooden stools that are kept on board. This also pulls out to make up into a double bed and has locker space under the seating, containing the relevant duvets and pillows, which are supplied with the boat.

Immediately after the dining area, there is the solid fuel stove to the left, and a further radiator on the right hand wall.

We then come to the saloon area, with two seat Sofa which converts to a double bed, and a satellite TV and DVD and radio/CD player.

Finally we come to glazed folding doors which open on to the bow seating area, with storage lockers under. There are removable cushions for the seating and table for bow which are kept on the boat. On the front of the boat is the main water tank which holds ample water for a weeks cruise, as well as a hose to re fill the tank.

General Comments by vendor

Marbury is a self-managed boat with a group of friendly and enthusiastic owners. We keep in touch mainly by e-mail, where any problems and suggestions may be raised. Each year there is an AGM when matters are discussed in more detail.

Regular maintenance and servicing is covered by a contract with the marina, who also carry out the winter works. Most owners, however, deal with minor repairs themselves.

Before changeover day, owners must ensure that the toilets are pumped out, and that fuel, water and gas are replenished ready for the next owners. All this can be done in the marina, whose staff are ready to assist if required. The marina will also book an internal valet if required on changeover day or you can clean the boat yourself.

In the marina, we have our own berth, with individual access to shore electricity, covered by a pre-paid card. In less congenial weather, therefore, it is possible to stay in the marina, using the boat as a base.

The marina has excellent facilities, including showers and laundry.

Great Haywood is situated on the Trent & Mersey close to its junction to the Staff. & Worcs canal, providing access to different areas such as North Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire.

Marbury is a comfortable
, modern boat fitted with light wood panelling and kitchen cupboards and has modern wall lights, fitted with LED bulbs for economy. The head room is particularly good, and there is no “ducking”, even in the shower!

Mains 240V electricity is available from an inverter using battery power or from a shore supply, if connected. 12V d.c. cigar lighter points powered from the domestic batteries are fitted at various locations.

Domestic hot water is heated by the engine or gas boiler. Central heating is from the gas boiler. The gas bottle and a spare are located in a stern locker.

In fine weather it is very pleasant to make use of the comfortable sitting area in the bow, where there is a removable table.
